Matthew 24:14 (NKJV) 14And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.
Jesus always connected the kingdom of God and the gospel together.
1 Corinthians 4:20 (NKJV) 20For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power.
The power of God is inherent in the gospel!!
It's very important that you understand that the gospel without power is not the gospel of Jesus Christ the way He meant it to be proclaimed. A gospel without people being saved and healed, and without people being delivered and radically changed, is not the gospel of Jesus Christ!
Some Christians say, everything that we do in the gospel doesn't have to be about power you know. What about just the message?"
Yes, there is a message, but
Jesus never said the gospel was just a message you share with people so they can
be saved.
Paul said, (1 Thess. 1:5). "For our gospel did not come to you in word
only, but also in power . . ."
He also said, (1 Cor.
2:4). "And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of
human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power" Paul had a
radical revelation of the gospel in the ministry of Jesus and what that looked
like.
Look. If you believe that you can be a Christian without power or you can be a
Christian without miracles, signs and wonders (believing that miracles passed
away with the age of the disciples) then you actually believe that the gospel is
powerless. Your mind is saying that Jesus didn't really die and rise again, and
the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead really doesn't live inside of
you. To say that Jesus doesn't still do miracles today is like saying that the
gospel is just having to convince someone enough until they can have an
emotional experience, or you can argue them into the kingdom if you can just
convince them by facts and theology.
Acts 19:18 - 20 (NIV) 18Many
of those who believed now came and openly confessed their evil deeds.
19A number
who had practiced sorcery brought their scrolls together and burned them
publicly. When they calculated the value of the scrolls, the total came to fifty
thousand drachmas. 20In
this way the word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power.
What's going to release the power of God and the harvest is the word of
knowledge; it's going to be prophetic evangelism; it's going to be signs and
wonders; it's going to be the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Luke 4:32 - 36 (KJV) 32And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power. 33And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice, 34Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou35And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not. 36And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out. Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.
When Jesus walked in the full power of the anointing of God, His righteous acts demonstrated to the world that the gospel wasn't only a message to hear, but it was also a message to see. How He dramatically preached the gospel was by healing the sick, casting out demons and raising the dead. Yes, He did speak, of course, but He also released miracles, signs and wonders because the gospel is the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek" (Rom. 1:16).
Acts 1:8 "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
1 Thessalonians 1:5 (NKJV) 5For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance, as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake.
Romans 15:17-19 and take to heart what he was saying:
"Therefore I have reason to glory in Christ Jesus in the things which pertain to God. For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ has not accomplished through me, in word and deed, to make the Gentiles obedient-(NKJ) "[Even as my preaching has been accompanied] with the power of signs and wonders, [and all of it] by the power of the Holy Spirit. [The result is] that starting from Jerusalem and as far round as Illyricum, I have fully preached the Gospel [faithfully executing, accomplishing, carrying out to the full the good news] of Christ (the Messiah) in its entirety" (Amplified).
A powerless gospel is not going to give harvest. You can't just be a man and a woman with a message. It's a man and a woman of power with a message. It's a man and a woman filled with the Holy Spirit. It's a man and a woman endued with power from on high with a message! Paul was saying that he hadn't really preached the gospel if he hadn't done it with miracles, signs and wonders.
I guarantee that the more you begin to take the gospel of Jesus Christ into the city streets, the more you will experience an increase of the manifestation of the power of God. God will always bless soul-winning. God will always bless: "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give" (Matt. 10:8). "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature" (Mark 16:15).
Be Blessed
